It's the time of the year again when Hanoi will become festive and become lonely at the same time.
It is the time of the year when families get together for the New Year but for foreigners living in the
city, it is the time to go somewhere unless you want to hole up in your apartment and spend the whole
week watching movies. As for me, I've done the whole week watching TV and eating the same thing for
the whole day because restaurants are closed during my first year in Hanoi. And since I am already a veteran. I'd better spent my time just like last year exploring Vietnam's neighbors and so....
DAY 1- January 20, 2012
I went to work to tidy up the class since it is standard for Vietnamese classes to pack and keep everything
in class to be sealed. It is because, they need to be kept to prevent thieves but thinking about it. If I am a thief, it would be easier to get them because they are already packed unlike when they are just lying around the room, then it would take time to put all the things inside a bag and it will create noise too.
Anyway, so that was on a Friday and I had to go back to the apartment to do my final packing and by 4 pm, we were on our way to the airport. We were early since the local airline time for flight is delayed, which is pretty normal when you book a budget airline. By 8 pm, we were above the clouds and trying to take a nap and after a more than an hour, we're on the ground again and HELLO SAIGON! By 10 pm, we arrived at the hotel De Tham ST. near Pham Ngu Lao, the tourist belt in Hanoi.
After a quick shower, i had a splitting headache that I didn't join Effa and Mitch for a late dinner.
